The Holy Reversal

I hope by now you have seen the streaming series The Chosen. In one of the early episodes, we see Jesus calling Andrew and Simon (Peter) to follow him. During this episode Peter seems to be too busy, he is clearly upset they had not had a good night, and he had come back with empty nets. Peter is so worried about his life here on earth that he did not understand who Jesus was in that moment, even with Andrew standing in awe that “the one talked about” was standing in front of him. Just like Peter, how often do we get caught up in the life we are living here in our temporary home? As Believers in Christ our citizenship is in heaven.

Have you experienced the Holy Reversal? Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior?

John 12:25-26: “Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.”

At one time or another we all get caught up living for this temporary home, but we need to stop and remember today’s scripture— that we are to be willing to lose our life in the world and follow Jesus, so that we can spend eternity with him. We also see in Matthew 16:24-25, that Jesus calls us to pick up our crosses daily and follow him. Just like in the episode of The Chosen, Jesus met Peter, Andrew, John, and Mark where they were at—they were fishermen. Jesus calls them to become fishers OF men. If you know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, then you too understand that Jesus met you where you were at and called you to follow him. Now it's time for us to set our mind on the mission of Jesus Christ, to go and make disciples of all nations!
