Growth Groups and Serving

Growth groups are one of the most essential things you can be a part of as a Believer. We are not made to do this life of faith on our own. A growth group is a great place where you get the chance to meet and have deeper friendships with other Believers. A place where you can be vulnerable about yourself and your shortcomings. The best part is that you are not going to feel judged, but instead encouraged through the struggles and hardships in your life. It is also a place where you can come with other Believers and grow in your knowledge and understanding of the Bible. It doesn't stop there though, you will also learn how to practically apply the Bible to your life and find others that are going to help you do that.

So often I have heard churchgoers complain about how they don't feel like they are connecting with people within the church, or that they wish their relationship with God was better. I will always ask the person if they are involved in a growth group, and a good portion will say they are not. Too often we don't make being connected with other believers a priority in our lives, and we miss out on how important they are.

Acts 2:42-47 "42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved."

Hebrews 10:24-25 "And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching."

These 2 passages are great to see the early church and how they were doing things. We see in Acts that they were devoting themselves to God's Word, spending time together, praying together, eating together, serving together, and encouraging one another. This is the model for what a church should be doing. A growth group is going to help you model this in your daily life as you and your group practically do these things.

This past year we had over 25 growth groups between our 2 campuses. Hundreds of people were connected in a growth group every week. Hundreds of people growing in God's Word together that is more than just Sunday morning. Just as awesome as that, we also saw hundreds of people serving together in many different ways each week. The church being the church --how cool is that! A growth group is a great next step as you get connected to the church, and one that is vital to your walk.

Are you connected to a growth group? Are you currently serving in any capacity? If not, I would love to help you take your next step and find a group or place to serve! It is so important to be doing this walk together! Don't miss out on how important a group and serving can be!
