2 Timothy 1:7
God is so good! It is awesome when we really consider all that He does for us. Being saved by the grace and power of God is so much more than a ticket to heaven. These verses are a reminder to Timothy to be bold! We are to be bold in the faith! We are to be bold in our testimony! We are to be bold for Christ! Without Him we are nothing! I talked with the youth students a few weeks ago for Summer Nights about how the entire Trinity takes part in our Salvation! 1 Peter shows how all of the Trinity, God in His three persons, all work together in their perfection when it comes to His saving Grace. The Spirit again shows itself as the one who gives us power! It is the work of the Holy Spirit who gives us strength. Where Timothy, where Paul, where we find weakness, the Spirit is made strong. Timothy is being encouraged here to remain bold and strong in the Spirit of the Lord. It is God Himself where our strength as believers comes from. It is so easy sometimes to be weary in this world. So many different trials come into our lives. Paul here in these verses, talks about how he is in prison, but Timothy is not to be ashamed by this. In fact, we are to suffer with him! We are to be made strong with Paul. Where we are weak, our God is made strong! It is the Spirit of God who works in us! He is the one who works in us, who sanctifies those who have put their trust in the Lord Jesus. The Spirit is the one who gives us power and strength. There are so many pressures in this world. So many things that can make our shoulders feel heavy and our eyes feel weary. Our natural instinct when we get down is to run to things that promise relief but in the long run tend to make things worse. Our strength comes from the Lord! It comes from the Holy Spirit! It is so easy for it to feel like it will not work when we are down, but as believers we know the truth. We know the truth about this world and the things it promises to offer. We also know who our God is! He is a God who keeps His promises and He promises to take care of his children! Trust in the power of the Holy Spirit and the strength that only He can and will provide.
