The Real Reason: The Cross

The Cross, the powerful moment where Jesus Christ takes our place and defeats death right then, for good, for all those who believe in him. At times I feel like we have it easier than the apostles as they did not know what was about to happen, where we on the other hand know the full story from start to finish. Every time I read these verses I feel for the disciples and those around Jesus as they must have been so confused.

In my recent studies through Cedarville University Bible Minor Project the professor made an interesting statement. He stated that it's interesting to hear others salvation testimony and how they trust and believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. However, he says many times we tend to leave out the fact that he went to the cross and 3 days later rose again. The cross is the focal point of our Salvation.

John 12:23-26 “Jesus replied, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.”

Jesus then continues with saying, “should I ask the father to save me from this hour? No this is the very reason he sent me.” I don't know about you, but I am so thankful Jesus saw through the other side of the cross. I am thankful that he understood why he was sent. With thanksgiving closing in on us, let us take time and be thankful for the cross—without Jesus, without the cross, we would still be on our way to hell. God wanted us to be in relationship with him, so he sent his Son, and he sent the cross.
