John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
John 1:14 “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling place among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
GOD CAME TO US! Jesus, the WORD that became flesh, FULLY God, FULLY man, came to us, to show us the way and the truth. What powerful verses to think on. The God of the universe, who created ALL things, looked upon us with a love that is so deep and so wide, that he sent his son Jesus—The Word of God—to save us and give us a place for all eternity with him. To all who take these truths, plant them deep within us, believe and hope in those truths, are saved. The Word of God IN us. I don’t know about you, but that fills me with an indescribable peace.
If you have made a profession of faith, guess what? You are now a testament and witness to the Light of the World. You are the one to shine in the darkness. God has chosen us to BE the Light. The Word of God came to us, dwells within us, and now has given us the opportunity to spread and share that light. The question you might have is, how can I be the light? Or, what can I do to share the light? I’ve had those similar questions, and the only advice I can give, is to live boldly through the good and bad things of life. People are watching you. How you respond to challenges, how you interact with people, how you live. When you choose to honor God in EVERYTHING that you think, say, and do you are being the light. Don’t diminish what you are going through, because it is in those places that God shines in you for others to see. Don’t diminish the influence you have with your friends, family, and co-workers to share who Jesus is. Matthew 5:14, “YOU ARE THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD”!
BUT God, did not stop there. When Jesus ascended into heaven, he gave us the gift of the Holy Spirit, who has given us the Living Word—The Bible! Sola Scriptura—Have you ever heard that phrase? It means that the Living Word of God is the only rule of faith and practice. It means that the Bible is inerrant, authoritative, sufficient, the source of all truth. The Living Word of God is foundational to our faith, and everything that we say and believe. Here at Emmanuel, this is what we teach. 2 Timothy 3:16-17, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” Scripture is all that we need to live a life honoring God, so long as we put it into practice. So many people want to hear God, but I would say, open your Bible, read it, because that is God talking to you through his infallible Word.
If you want to be the light, if you want to share who Jesus is—The Word of God, I challenge you to dive into the Living Word of God. Our time here on earth is limited, we have no way of knowing when our time is up. When that time comes, I know I want to be found shining my light for Jesus until that last breath. That my life was a testament to the Word of God, that I lived out the truth of the Living Word of God. I hope this is your mindset too!
