Teach People the Bible

I think the title of this devotional says everything we need, we need to teach people the Bible. All too often in the American Church we find it easy to invite people to church, now when I say easy I mean we are excited to invite friends and family to attend church with us. However, I challenge you with when is the last time you shared Biblical truth with them? More often than not we expect the leaders of the church to share with our friends and family. We see in today's scripture how people went to others to share the word! We see in verse 7-8 that Jehoshaphat made teaching God's word a priority by sending leaders throughout Judah. Notice how he sent them to the people, they didn't expect people to come to them. They knew the power of God and wanted others to know about him so much they invested in them. We are called to do the same, we need to take the word of God to others, we need to stand firm and be courageous when we have the opportunity to share truth.

As a believer I encourage you to find someone you can invest in. I know you are probably thinking, “what if I don't know the answer to a question, what if I mess up?” That is the enemy trying to stop you from advancing the Kingdom. So once again, who can you invest in? Our mission statement at Emmanuel is we exist to make passionate disciples! How can we all participate in making passionate disciples? By taking the gospel and Biblical truth to those around us. Take the next step, find someone to invest in, by doing so you are not just feeding into someone else, you will also be fed. We find in 2 Timothy 3:16-17:

"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."

The goal of teaching should not be just to know more about the Bible but to be equipped to live differently because of God’s word!
