We all at some point or another have been in the wrong place at the wrong time. Maybe it was a car accident, something spilled on you, etc. It's never a good thing or good timing. The effects of the aftermath seem to be intense. We see in today’s Scripture that David was in the wrong place and the wrong time. Now the story of David and Bathsheba could fill this entire devotional booklet plus a couple more, but for the sake of today let's summarize it. King David put his guard down and sent out the army for war when normally the king would go with them. By doing so he sent off his accountability, now it's important to understand David was not planning on sleeping with Bathsheba, these were 2 different choices David made. However, as we all know when you are in the wrong place, you tend to make poor judgment calls and or unrationed decisions. Most of us know how the story of David and Bathsheba ends, but can we avoid making poor judgement calls before they lead to bigger issues? What are some practical things we can do to avoid being in the wrong place at the wrong time. The first one is I strongly encourage you to set boundaries for yourself and your family. I promise you people around you are not going to understand the “Silly” rules, but we must protect ourselves and our families. The second one is to remain faithful in spending time with God daily. When we neglect spending time with God we tend to stray away. I remember to this day some close friends Sarah and I, who at first felt offended by the boundaries we had to set for our family. This was nothing against them but as staff for the church we felt it was needed. As time went on, they understood. We are truly able to avoid those wrong places if we keep our mind and eyes on Jesus. The Devil is prowling like a Lion waiting for us to fall into one of his traps. Don't give in! Fight back!
