“The Ultimate Pursuit”

Main Point and Overview:

Everyone is “chasing after” something.  Whether it’s power or prosperity or pleasure or prominence, the human heart is never quite satisfied even when “achieving” these pursuits. It seems like there is always something “bigger and better” next to pursue. What if we saw the meaning of life in a different light? This Easter season we might need to chart a new course. The Story of Zacchaeus is a powerful reminder of what an “empty” life often looks like. A man who “had it all” by the world’s standards was simply looking for more. He would soon realize that there was a “God-shaped-hole” in his heart that needed to be filled with something much different than wealth and power. What are you “chasing after?” Maybe it’s time to let it all go and come to Jesus. Maybe you already know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, and it’s a priority adjustment that you need to make. As you take the time to read through the sermon devotions this week, ask yourself this question: how am I like Zacchaeus, and what is the pursuit of my heart?
