Pastor John, gave me the title of this devotional, and honestly, it could really begin and end with those words……Grace Wins…. truly, is there anything more that needs to be said? I suppose I better ?
Immediately upon reading those words, “Grace Wins”, I thought of a popular song that you may have heard on any Christian radio station, with the same title, “Grace Wins” by Matthew West. Here are some of the lyrics:
“There's a war between guilt and grace
And they're fighting for a sacred space
But I'm living proof
Grace wins every time, yeah
No more lying down in death's defeat
Now I'm rising up in victory
Singing hallelujah
Grace wins every time”
If you have called upon Christ to save you and repented of your sins, you, my friend have been saved by the blood bought power of Jesus Christ, who being rich in mercy, made us alive—by grace through faith, nothing we have done. You and I, are living proof that GRACE WINS. We no longer have to live in the shame and guilt of our pasts, we no longer desire to live in the old desires of our flesh, we get to walk in newness of life that God so lavished upon us. He renews our purpose, and we get to take part in doing good works for his honor and glory. That is the most loving and greatest gift you and I could ever receive, and by boldly living for him, we get to declare—GRACE WINS!
Ephesians 2:4-5: "But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.”
Ephesians 2:8-10: “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
