Only Love Endures

1 Corinthians 13:8-13
Love will remain! Many things God created or things that we have on this earth were made to be temporary. They were made to be there for their time. All things of this world will wash away. The things that we cling on to in this world are like a vapor in the wind, they pass away and become a part of history. But love remains! The love of God is forever. Faith, hope and love remain, but the greatest of these is love. All throughout Scripture (which was written over many centuries) makes clear to us the love of God. He shows us His sacrificial love towards those He has created. What is it that we cling on to? What is it that we find so important that we have a hard time letting go? God has given us so many things to be grateful for! He has given us so much that He expects us to be good stewards of. Our families, our things, our jobs, but above all else we are to put Him first and then the people around us. We are to show the same kind of sacrificial love that Christ had for us on the cross. Greater is no love than those who would lay down their lives for their friends! Christ’s love is one of sacrifice. He showed by example how all things can be destroyed, but the love of God will endure forever. He has gone to prepare a place for us that is so much greater than anything we could ever imagine while here on this earth and will last so much longer than the vapor of this world. But yet, we still find it hard to give up the things that we choose to love while living here in this fallen world. Choose to love! Choose to give up the things that are temporary and choose love that lasts forever!
