Psalm 119:160
Fake news, AI, and personal ideologies are filled with fallacies and misrepresentations that spread and can be so pervasive. Somewhere along the way, truth is being shaped by the culture, watered down or dismissed altogether. We often hear the definition of truth as, “truth is what it means to me” and worse yet is that many will base their truth off feelings. We live in a world that screams out, “live your truth.” Here’s the truth, the absolute truth: God’s word is, was and will be true, forever. From the first book to the last, the Bible is true. A vital and key verse from the longest chapter in the Bible, emphasizes the complete and eternal truth and permanence of God's Word. The entirety of God’s word is truth, and His righteous judgments endure forever. Check out Psalm 119:160. “All your words are true; all your righteous laws are eternal.”
Today’s verse confirms the inerrancy, completeness and everlasting nature of scripture, highlighting God's reliable and unchanging precepts. Amen! I know I began this devotion painting a bleak picture of the lack of truth that permeates our lives causing you to possibly question everything on your social media newsfeed, instilling fear over what our news outlets are reporting and even scarier to me are the convincing deepfakes generated by artificial intelligence. BUT . . . THANK GOD that we live in a universe where there is “true truth.” God, who is truth, has communicated His will as to what we are to know and believe about Him and all that He created. We have His word communicated to us in the written Word, and through the preaching of His Word.
We must be diligently attentive to God’s Word. We need to “fact check” the books, articles, podcasts, reels and all the incoming noise and even what we’ve heard in preaching against the written Word. I’m reminded of the Bereans from Acts 17. The Bereans received the word with eagerness but examined the scriptures daily to see if the things they heard and received were true.
My prayer is that we would value, know, and receive the truth with faith and a readiness to act upon it. Oh friends, may we fall deeply in love with God’s Truth.
What is the testimony of your truth?
