Truth Gives Life

John 8:31-32, 14:6, 17:7
It seems every generation has their own slang or phrases. Even young children today are walking around saying the phrase “Six Seven”. Even our almost two year old has picked it up from other children! The Gen Z generation says words like “Lit, Bussin, No Cap.” My generation (millennials) would say “YOLO, Bae, On Fleek” - at least when I was in high school. My favorite was YOLO, “You only live once.” This mantra basically encouraged you to live your best life by taking risks, living dangerously, and sinfully. Looking back, I see how sad it was to go around saying that because in essence it was saying this life is all there is, so do what you want! We know as believers, this life is short compared to eternity. Today, Generation Z lives by something called “My truth.” This mantra is dangerous and scary. It means anything can be truth to you if that's how you feel or how you see your reality. My truth and your truth are thrown around like confetti. Truth is now whatever we want it to be. Nothing is absolute truth, only what's true to you matters. Satan definitely has his hand in this. Satan from the beginning has wanted to distort and pervert the truth. He is the father of lies. If he can get you to distort the truth, he can get you to question the authenticity of scripture. The thought that truth can be anything is a bit bizarre. There are absolute truths we can’t argue with. The sky is blue. The grass is green. To say otherwise, people would think you’re a crazy person, or at least color blind! How is it that when it comes to simple things like that, truth is valid, but when it comes to gender or Biblical fundamentals anything goes?

During Jesus’ ministry He spoke of truth often. He referred to himself as truth. John 14:6: Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Did you catch that? JESUS IS TRUTH! HIM ALONE! We can’t change the color of the sky or the color of the grass. It’s always been and always will be those colors. Why? Science proves it. Same is true of Jesus. He’s always been and always will be. Jesus is the only way to Heaven! The Bible is real! Why? History, Science, and Archaeology prove it! If that’s not enough, see the drastic changes that have happened in people's lives throughout all of history through the power of Jesus. The prophecies that have come true, answered prayers, the living Word of God saving souls, and so much more. God is absolute truth and can be trusted. In a world constantly changing truth, we can always go back to our Bible to see what truth really is. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). Be encouraged and comforted to know He is an unchanging God. Truth can’t be changed, truth gives life in Jesus!
