Multiply the Mission

READ 2 Timothy 2:1-7

Here in this letter to Timothy, Paul is urging Timothy to discern who are faithful men, spread the word to those who are willing to learn, then teach others and entrust to these "faithful men" the things which Timothy learned from Paul. It’s the ministry of multiplication, and it should not be kept to oneself, but be passed on.

In the Bible, soldiers, athletes, and farmers are used as metaphors to describe how us Christ-followers should live our lives. Soldiers sacrifice and put in the hard work to be prepared and battle ready. Athletes adhere and endure strict training so they can compete. Farmers work from sunup to sundown patiently toiling in hope of an abundant harvest. I would imagine that most of us know a soldier, a farmer, or an athlete. Perhaps there was a time when you even wore one of those titles. But how can we, how can I, a female who is as old as the Superbowl, develop the qualities of a soldier, an athlete, and a farmer and become an excellent disciple of Jesus Christ?

As a soldier:
Be disciplined and prepared to endure.
Have a laser focus, avoiding distractions.
Expect to suffer and take my share in it.
Serve God wholeheartedly.

As an athlete:
Give myself over to spiritual training and discipline.
Live with integrity and fairness.
Persevere.
Strive for victory, the reward of eternal life.

As a farmer:
Be diligent in planting seeds of faith.
Patiently nurture with prayer and action.
Trust in God’s promises.
Expect to reap the harvest of souls.

The charge to Timothy was to multiply the mission. We too are to take what we have learned, teach others and pass it on, who then teach others and pass it on, who teach others and pass it on, who teach others and pass it on, who teach others and pass it on, who teach others and pass it on, who teach others and pass it on, who teach others and pass it on, who teach others and pass it on. . .

Emmanuel’s mission is to be obedient to the Great Commission. “We exist to honor God by making passionate disciples”.  Now GO and disciple with another. Multiply the mission!
