Sanctity of Church Responsibility

In America we have the blessing and honor of living in a democracy where our American responsibility is to vote, but let's take it a step further and look at the Church’s responsibility. I think we tend to mix the two together when it comes to an election year. The church’s responsibility is to not pour our hearts into a candidate but to continue with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We all know what is at stake every day of our lives, and it's no difference when it comes to an election—we need to stay committed to the mission. Hebrews 13:16 tells us “And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.” This is not a pick and choose who to share with but a call to share with everyone. The months leading up to November tend to divide families, friends, and the world in general, but let us remember to remain in Christ and continue to do good and share. We also see in James 1:27 “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” Let us not become absorbed by the world and the division that it wants, but as I stated above, let us remain on the mission. Let us make decisions every day that are biblical decisions. Our (The Church) responsibility is to remain in Christ and see the Gospel go to all ends of the earth just as Jesus commands us in Matthew 28. My challenge for you is this, take some time and ask yourself the following questions:

1.Can I share and love those around me that may see things differently?

2.Have I put a person or thing higher than God in my live?

My prayer is that no matter what the world brings at us, we can continue to move forward with sharing the good news and caring for others.
