Succession Plan: Part 2

Numbers 27:18-23

We all love a good success story! I think back to the 2014 Rose Bowl game where Michigan State faced off against Stanford. I will always remember the pivotal play of the game. With less than 2 minutes remaining Stanford was faced with a 4th and 1. Michigan state didn't stop the drive. If they hold them from getting one yard, they seal the game and win. Well, the ball was snapped, the quarterback ran forward running behind his offensive linemen. Kyle Elsworth, a linebacker for MSU jumped over a pile that was moving forward and tackled the quarterback behind the line to win the game for MSU. In a high intensity moment, Kyle took the call to go out on the field and win the game. With a time out right before, I can only imagine the coaching staff asking which one of the players was going to rise up and make the stop.

When I read about Joshua I am always encouraged by his leadership, he followed Moses from start to finish, and when the time came for leadership to be handed over, he took the calling. Joshua was called by God to finish the job. Although it was not easy at times, he trusted in God’s plan. As we begin the study on Joshua, I hope you can take a lot away from his leadership qualities and learn from them. God has a plan for us all, we need to be reminded that God’s plan is a successive plan. We need to take a page out of Joshua's life and accept the calling that God has placed on us, and lead our sphere of influence with faith that God is going to do a mighty work. We may not know where the plan will take us, but let us stay true and committed like Joshua and see it to the end.

Are you ready to step up to the plate and lead?
