Animosity vs. Adoration (Exclusive Attitude)

Everybody has an opinion! We live in a very “opinionated” society which is growing by the minute as social media allows for everyone to “speak their minds.” Sometimes, this is a bad thing; other times, it’s become a vehicle in which to speak the truth to a vast audience. Jesus had a vast audience in his day, and he always took advantage of speaking the truth. As a result, he became a polarizing figure. Everyone had a different attitude toward Jesus. Some loved him. More hated him. Everyone was intrigued by his words and miracles. It’s true that our attitude toward Jesus will determine our behavior “for” or “against” Jesus! For the hypocritical religious leaders, they feared that Jesus was becoming more popular than them. Soon, they thought, people would look to Jesus’ teachings over their legalistic laws. In reality, they were losing a mental, emotional, and spiritual “grip” on the people, and they became incredibly defensive as a result. Their fear turned into fury, and they began to look for every opportunity to accuse, arrest, and ultimately eliminate Jesus. Then, there was Mary. She had a wisdom and knowledge that even the other disciples of Jesus didn’t possess. Gratitude was the drive of her heart in an extremely selfless and sacrificial display of love toward Jesus. Then, there was Judas. Ultimately, he was filled with pride, and he took a beautiful moment and made it about his own deceitful motives. Lots of attitudes from different people that led to either reactions or responses to Jesus. Ultimately, we all have a specific attitude toward Jesus that will drive our behaviors. Who do YOU see Jesus as in your life? Attitude is everything.
