Nehemiah 8:2-3
What an amazing passage showing people who are hungry for the truth! This is something I have been thinking about a lot lately, about how many people are hungry for truth. Many people are seeking today for something to help them feel whole. Something to hold on to. So many things in this world promise to be the truth or to give a sense of purpose in this world. The Bible tells us the truth! The people here in Nehemiah asked Ezra to share the Law with them! They listened quite literally all morning, then took time after to praise God! They are passionate and excited about the truth from God, and they listened. The NIV uses the word " attentively " in verse 3. They were passionate about the truth and could not be swayed from Ezra reading the Law to them. They are hungry for it. Sometimes, as Christians, it can be easy to forget that kind of passion. It can be easy to make the truth in God’s Word so normalized that it becomes mundane. God’s Word is truth, and His Word is to captivate us, no matter how long we have been saved. Never lose the passion or the love of Christ and His Word. I have been talking with the College group about our purpose as people, as we read through a book talking about what it is we are to be doing. We are to represent Christ and tell others about Him! Be excited about God’s Word.
