Real Power

The power of the Holy Spirit is within us! There are 2 things in life that the Bible tells us are real power, but I think we as believers have a hard time believing it. The power of prayer and the power of the Holy Spirit. Both seem sometimes like spiritual “talk” without meaning. Have you ever had someone come up to you and spill out their heart? You are sitting there listening and because of how much you care about them, you want to help? You want to help them navigate the pain, sorrow, and struggle. Yet, you know there is really nothing that you can do. So, you say, “I will be praying for you!” I have done this! Something I am working on is understanding that this is one of the best things we can do for people! Prayer and the Power of the helper (Holy Spirit) is the best thing we can do for people. The Holy Spirit is the one that changes lives! The Holy Spirit is the one that can bring true change and everlasting peace! Yet sometimes we think about prayer as, well I do not know what else to say so, I am praying for you! That is how we can tend to view the power of the Spirit! The reality is though that this is what we need to be doing for all people. One thing that I have been trying to practice lately, because of an example of a friend doing this for others, is praying for people right there in that moment! Instead of telling someone you’ll pray for them later, ask them right in that moment, “Can I pray for right now about everything that is going on?” See how their heart lifts from this simple step! You are now showing them that you do care. Praying for them is a first step that we need to take when helping any person! Show people the true power of prayer and the Holy Spirit! He is real! He is our Helper! Pray and rely on God’s Power!
