The Struggle is Real

Romans 7:14-25
The alarms are sounding, big flashing red lights are going crazy, and the news reporter hits us with the BIG HEADLINER: “The struggle is real, we indeed are all sinners.” That's right, we all struggle with sin! The Bible tells us in Romans 3:10-12, “there is no one good, no not one.” Paul goes on to tell us in Romans 7:14-25 that what he wants to do, he does not do, and what he doesn't want to do he does. Sounds familiar, right? Well, that's because we all struggle with that. It’s easier to sin than to do the right thing at times. Let’s be silly for a minute (while being honest). When you are at a get together or party, you are faced with the ultimate choice at the food table. Will you choose the sugary food or the veggie platter? We know we should eat the veggies, but we fill up our plates full of chips and cookies and all the “good” stuff.

The same is true with so many other things in our lives that we take for granted. Paul is telling the Roman believers it's a battle! We ought to strive for doing things that are pleasing to God. For those who are parents, we want to raise our kids to make good choices when it comes to friends, actions, and even snack foods. Yet, we turn around and lack making those same good choices.  As believers in Jesus Christ, the one who set us free from the chains of sin, lets strive to do the right things! It’s not going to be easy, but it will be worth it. We are 14 days into 2026; we have all faced choices in this small amount of time. Let's not let the past keep us from growing in our walk with the Lord. There are 351 days left in the year, don’t let the flesh win. What do you need to give over to God to honor and please our Savior?
