Get Away From Them

2 Timothy 3:1-5

Let’s be honest, we all know people that we just cannot be around for long or even at all. We must be careful that it is not in a mean way. We must keep in mind that the old saying you will become who you surround yourself with. When you are around people with different moral values from yours, you will begin to question yourself. Notice what we find in 2 Timothy 3:1-5,

“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving,   slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.”

As Christians, we must stay away from these things. Now, of course, we must continue to share the Good News with them, but when we surround ourselves with people who act like this, we will slowly be pulled into the same trap. You are probably reading this thinking, well that wouldn't happen to me; however, too often we think Satan works with one big event that pulls us back to living in the flesh when in reality it's a slowwwww, little by little fall. With that being said, put your guard up! 1 Peter 5:8 warns us to be alert and sober-minded because Satan roams like a roaring lion waiting to attack. The best type of protection is to avoid those who are going to pull you down. We also must be honest with ourselves and make sure we do not let pride ruin our mindset. We all know what our biggest temptations are. For me, it is material things and money! Yes, hard work deserves payment, but I had to remove myself from some college friends who were solely driven by how much money they were going to make. I can confirm that it affects you! Unfortunately, my walk with the Lord did not get as much time or attention during my college days. So, take it from me, get away from them before it affects your walk!
