Ask For Anything

John 14:1-14

As Paisley is getting older and her personality is coming to the forefront in our lives, we are seeing that she is much like Sarah and me. She does not have any reservations about asking for something. Throughout our house, at some point or another, you will hear the sweet cries of WaWa, Pass-e, or Blank-ee. The calls will go on until whatever she is asking for is A. Given to her or B. She finds them.  In those moments, we find that she is ready to take a nap or go to bed. They are in our designed plan for her, so we make sure those items are given to her when she asks.  For us adults, how often do we get upset when we ask God for something and he doesn't give it to us? In the moment, we may get upset or frustrated that the dream job we wanted was given to someone else, or even the house you thought you would get sold before you even got a chance to look at it.  The kicker I’ve had to learn in my own life is that at the end of the day, God is going to give us what aligns with his plans.  Many people often hear these verse and begin to think well, if I ask God to give me anything I want, I will be blessed with it. We must learn that there is an added layer here; God does not promise prosperity or health. He promises us External life when we put our faith in Jesus Christ. Of course, God blesses us more then we can imagine, but we must be careful that we don’t get the mindset that if we ask for anything, we will get. Let our ask become more align with Gods will and not for our personal gain.
